Leaders are Readers

The Johnny’s Library podcast is a collection and recap of the books that have had an impact on my life. I want to share with you some of the content that has become a game changer in my life through the written word. Yes I do listen to podcasts and audio books, but there is something special about holding a physical book in your hands.
I created both this podcast and this page to share these books with you. You can change your entire path in life by diving into the right books and for me a few of those books are listed here.

“You will be the same person in five years as you are today except for the people you meet and the books you read” – Charlie Tremendous Jones

“Not all readers are leaders, but all leaders are readers” – Harry S Truman

The Book Lover's Journal

The Book Lover’s Journal is an excellent way to track what you have read and how it resonated with you. I use this to look back and reflect on the books I have dived in to over the years.

Creative Calling - Chase Jarvis

Creative Calling is a book that completely changed how I look at my own creativity, and how I have worked in my life to develop a practice of being intentional about making time to be creative.

Launch! - Jeff Walker

Reading Launch! helped me to transition “old-school” sales tactics (such as the sales letter or extremely long sales pages) into today’s times with live video, social media, new media, and more. This book transformed years of schooling into practical application for today.

The Richest Man In Babylon - George S Clason

Simple, practical, applicable ideas around money management and wealth creation, set in ancient Babylon but can still be implemented today. This version annotated by Dave Ramsey works well to tie ancient concepts to present day situations.

Traction - Gino Wickman

Understanding what is important, outlining your tragets for the next 1, 3, and 10 years of your life, crafting a plan for the next 90 days, getting the right people in the right seats and actyally gaining traction in both your businesss and your life is all perfectly outlined in Traction.

Superfans - Pat Flynn

Superfans helped me outline steps for building a community around what you are trying to create. The practical steps of building an audience, followers, subscribers, and moving them into super fans redefined how I looked at anyone who took the time to listen to a podcast episode or watch a video.

Think and Grow Rich - Napoleon Hill

This is not a book about “put it out into the universe and it will just magically come back to you” although that principle is addressed in the text. Think And Grow Rich will help you reframe your thinking on what you want in life, and take practical, actionalble steps to get there. This is only the first episode covering Think And Grow Rich.

The Proximity Principle - Ken Coleman

In order to do what you want to do you need to get around people who are already doing it, in places it is already being done. That’s the Proximity Principle summed up in one sentence. The genuis behind this book though, is that Ken shows you how to use the Proximity Principle to get your dream job. This book is not about how to use people and step over them to get to your goals, it is about being intentional with your connections and your time to make those dreams a reality.
